PRESENCE
Art as a way of occupying space, memory, and cultural conversation
This issue explores presence not as visibility or self-promotion, but as the impact an artist creates through their work. Presence can be physical, emotional, political, symbolic, or deeply personal. It exists in the relationship between artwork, artist, and audience.
We focus on practices that investigate how artists occupy space, shape perception, leave traces, and participate in larger cultural conversations. Presence may be expressed through the body, memory, materiality, identity, landscape, community, or the act of witnessing itself.
PRESENCE brings together international artists whose work demonstrates a strong sense of artistic voice, engagement, and connection – whether quiet or monumental, intimate or public.
About the Issue
Presence is not visibility.
It is the way an artist occupies space, memory, conversation, and attention.
PRESENCE is about:
- the relationship between artwork and audience
- the artist’s voice within contemporary culture
- memory, traces, and acts of witnessing
- embodiment, identity, and lived experience
- creating work that resonates beyond its physical form
This issue is especially relevant for artists building international careers, portfolio visibility, and long-term professional positioning, including visa-focused artistic paths.
